Sofritas, huh? An interesting name for a really good food. I wouldn’t have gotten tofu from the word “Sofritas”. I think that this tastes just like taco meat. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference except that this tastes amazing! I think that with the kick from the poblanos, Sofritas are on a whole other level that taco meat just can’t live up to. I am sure you could recreate this if you had the right kind of spices but all the sign tells the general public is that it has “a blend of aromatic spices”. I am thinking along the lines of tumeric and cumin.
The texture is that of taco meat from ground beef and you definitely need something to down the poblanos because every time Chipotle makes their food, sometimes it can be on the spicy side and with chilis that are a permanent ingredient, you can already imagine turning red.
As someone who is biased towards chicken in any situation, I definitely recommend this and would eat this instead of the steak, which can be dry at times, and it soothes the need for ground beef.
As far as I know, all Chipotles should have it but it seems that there have been advertisements that make this even newer than I expected.
What do you think of Sofritas? Do you love it or hate it?
